Question: Is it possible to use FIBPlus in a Linux console application without x-server libraries?

Answer: Some FIBPlus features require qt. For example, Ttimer is used in TpFIBDatabase for automatic re-connection if the database connection has been lost. So it is possible to use FIBPlus in a console application without x-server libraries. But this will require additional testing under Kylix. We already have problems with Kylix versions because of CLX and Kylix peculiarities

We use FIBPlus in all our applications, and we're very satisfied. If you're coming from IBX, FIBPlus is an especially good choice in as much as it has a common origin, and therefore, a similar structure, so conversion from IBX to FIBPlus is rather easy. >>
