Question: What’s the difference between FIBPlus free trial version and its commercial analogue?
Answer: The trial differs in the following things:
1) FIBPlus trial version lacks four main files with sources: FIBDatabase.pas, FIBDataSet.pas, FIBQuery.pas and FIBSQLMonitor.pas. We usually include quick fixes into these modules. So the advantage of having these files is that you can quickly insert these changes, recompile the updated version and use it on your project without waiting for the newest official build.
2) FIBPlus trial version lacks pFIBPlusTools expert sources.
3) If the IDE is not started, the trial will show the nag screen. So e.g your cgi program written on FIBPlus won’t work.
4) Using FIBPlus trial version you won’t be able to change the client library from gds32.dll to fbclient.dll. You will be able to use gds32.dll only.
During a re-write of a very large software system we were having some difficulties utilizing a 3rd party grid that we had chosen. The dataset connectivity was very flaky due to the complex joins and updates we were using which caused the grids to behave very sketchy. FIBPlus was the perfect solution for us. After implementing it everything became so much easier. The grid functionality stabilized, data retrieval was much faster, and we were pleasantly surprised by many of the unique features of your components. We were especially impressed with your pFIBUpdateObject components which allowed us to very easily update the multiple tables we were using in our joins. Many thanks for your great components.>>
