Question: When compiling my FIBPlus applications for Turbo Delphi (BDS 2006) I get an error: [Pascal Fatal Error] FIBMiscellaneous.pas(236): F2051 Unit FIBDataSet was compiled with a different version of StrUtil.FastUpperCase. What should I do to avoid it?
Answer: Please, rebuild the main FIBPlus package:
1. Open Delphi IDE
2. Go to "Component" - "Install Packages"
3. Select "FIBPlus" package and click "Edit" button.
4. The package FIBPlus2006.dpl will be open in the current project group. It should be active (bold).
5. Go to "Project" and select "Build FIBPlus2006" command.
That's all :). Now you can compile any FIBPlus applications. I do not know the reason of such strange behavior, because during automatic installation FIBPlus is compiled by the same compiler, which is used in IDE. Only Borland knows what's going on with that :)
FIBPlus has taken the headache out of this project. When I got the current contract, FIBPlus was included on the work computer from the client. I quickly found it easier to use and more powerful than any other Firebird component suite I had tested. When I ran into a problem setting up a persistent calculated field, the tech support people saved the day. I would also add that I tested Zeos, IBX, DBGo, UIB, and other FBconnectors. FIBPlus outperformed all of them, and FIBPlus was run on an older machine than the others were. That was most impressive.>>
